What are social media tools?

In this post you must list and briefly describe (in your own words) five different types of social-media tools and applications.  Provide links to each of the homepages of the social media described.

Media tools are applications such as Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram and Blogger. These are sites with different rules and settings for users to choose from. Some users will like more applications than others and will have their own preferences.

Brief descriptions of the five applications.

Facebook

Facebook is a social network that allows users to post comments, share photographs and links to news or other interesting content, i.e play games, live chat and live video.

Twitter

Twitter is a social network where people communicate in short messages called tweets. Tweeting is sending short messages to anyone who follows you on Twitter.

Snapchat

Snapchat is a app where users can take photos, videos and chat to others. What makes it different from other social networks is that you can only view photos and videos for a certain amount of time. If chatting to a friend and you leave the app, it will wipe all your chat. You are able to screen shot other peoples photos but it tells them if you have done so.

Instagram

Instagram is a social network made for sharing photos and videos from a smartphone. When you post a photo or video on Instagram, it will be displayed on your profile. Other users who follow you will see your posts in their own feed. Likewise, you'll see posts from other users whom you choose to follow.
